Hi,
The call was wonderful and exciting.
I typed a long blog comment, then it asked for a google account, so I went to google to do that, and alas, my blog was erased.
The pictures are great-keep them coming. I know you are cold, but it is damp and in the 70's here.
I told Mom of your call-call her next. Remember she is off today(Monday) and working tomorrow.
I can't begin to tell you how jealous I am. Being in the city and country where your Zadie, my father, and my Bubbie and Zadie, and aunts and uncles came from (in 1911)is something I want to do. I have been anxious to go to eastern Europe. The old Austrian-Hungarian Empire, which ended in 1918, contains some of my favorite history. Of course, much anti semitism in Budapest, Vienna, etc over the decades, but that is part of the history too. Until the Nazi's the Jewish community of eastern Europe was the most vibrant, and it is good to read that some of it is flourishing, especially in Budapest and Prague.
I am glad you went to the synagogue there. I can imagine our past family members had walked there, and davened there. Aunt Debbie told me that my Zadie had a brother who left there and his family went to Israel(Palestine)before WWII and she met them. She has lost contact, and I never realized that they existed.
Take care and keep the blogs coming!
Love, Dad and Uncle A.
